True 5.1 Dolby Digital?
ok so from what ive seen around the internet im understanding that depending on the tv and its ability to ouput 5.1 Dolby Digital depends entirely on if I actually get 5.1 on my receiver...I have a Vizio 42" XVT series and it tells me I have the option of Digital Audio out and can be switched between stereo, Dolby Digital, and PCM
Would the Dolby Digital mode give me true 5.1 audio ouput if I connect my tv to my receiver via Optical cable?

Also is this mode just for satellite/cable/tv? or is it for all connections? I realize there is a Dolby Digital 2.0 as well
this exact quote came from the users manual of my tv
"If your sound system has a SPDIF (optical) digital audio input you can connect it to the optical
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (white area) at the rear of the LCD HDTV. This is active when receiving audio with
the programs being viewed no matter what input is being used."
All Off-the-air HDTV programming (using an antenna) includes Dolby audio. If you connect your TV to a receiver via the optical s/pdif, if the program has 5.1 DD (not all of them have it - most have 2-ch stereo), then you will get the full surround sound.
If you use satellite or cable, simply connect the s/pdif out from the set-top directly to the receiver; However, your TV seems to be also passing DD audio from HDMI input to its s/pdif out as well, so that's another option.
