how do you compare dynamic contrast and regular contrast ratios?
Im buying a tv and after some research have found that dynamic contrast is a sneaky way of getting a higher contrast ratio on an lcd tv. so what i want to know is, how do you tell whether or not the tv your looking at uses dynamic contrast or not. and how to you compare the 2.

so whats the difference between 6500:1 and 50,000:1 (DCR)?
True contrast is the ratio in brightness of the brightest white over the darkest black ON THE SAME picture.
Because LCDs have backlight, a while back Samsung started using dynamic contrast, which is the brightest white with the light FULL ON over black with the backlight "Off' (If it is true off, then dynamic contast can go to millions..)
Usually Dynamic contrast is about 5x True contrast, but in essence it is meaningless since you can never have the backlight on and off in the same picture, unless you use dynamic LEDs.
