Vizio HDTVs - America's Bargain Brand
We, as Americans, are always on the hunt for the latest technology on the very best prices. From that major mindset, a company that was virtually unknown until about 2006 emerged and has become a major player in the high definition world. That company is known as Vizio. Vizio HDTVs are becoming a go to brand when trying to create a more budget friendly HD setup, especially in today's economic times.
Not to be confused with actual manufacturers like Sony or Samsung, Vizio HDTVs are a compilation of sub-contracted parts creating a lower budget HDTV. This is similar to the no name company Olevia which has a similar market approach to the HD world. Both of these companies are responsible for being a major contributor to the price wars that have since come into play for HDTV sets and have actually managed to take a bite out of the major name brand's market share so it hasn't gone unnoticed.
Vizio HDTVs began as plasma offerings. It wasn't until recently, though, that Vizio moved to drop their plasma line and start manufacturing LCD HDTV's at a more affordable price point. Many have speculated that it's because of Vizio's sub-contracted supply chain that this move happened. According to one of their co-founders, though, it's simply due to LCD's being brighter and alluring more customers. Even with that, though, Vizio will surely change the market for LCD HDTVs as they have for the plasmas that preceded them. Their sets are being tweaked to offer features many people love but aren't willing to pay the exuberant premiums that come along with it. One of these features is the LED backlight often found in high end LCD sets.
Vizio doesn't claim to be an ultra high end premium brand that is out to match the features in LCD sets that can easily fetch $10,000 or more. Instead, they have one principle and they do it well. That principle is to create HDTVs that fit more within a comfortable price point for many Americans. This opens the market up for budget HD enthusiasts who will enjoy the HD experience. For that, Vizio HDTVs should always be taken into consideration when shopping for more barebones HD setups. They can compete with models from other manufacturers well, just don't expect the latest gadgets and interactivity that you'd find on HD sets commanding five or ten times the price.
