Which LCD TV should I buy? Vizio 47" or Samsung 40"?
I am looking at the Samsung 40" LN40B630, which is a 40", 1080p, 120hz, with 80k to one contrast ratio for $879.00 at my local stores. Or, I can buy a Vizio 47" VL470M, which is also 1080p, 120hz, but only 50k to one contrast ratio for $897.00 at my local Sam's Club. I have heard that Samsung is the best, but am I paying for the name? For $18 more, I can get a larger television. My room will work for either size. I don't watch too many sports, usually just t.v. shows and movies. I occasionally play video games. Thanks!
P.S. $900 is my budget.
i heard that Vizio is known to be of significantly less quality when compared side by side to other more high quality brands by itself though it might look decent.
i also heard Vizios tend to break down shortly out of the 1 year warranty (as in up to 3 months) and when that happens charges to have them repair it are insane.
i also heard that they charge you when something breaks even if it is still under warranty.
personally i would go with Samsung as its better to be safe then sorry and although value at first might not seem as good as the Vizio (because for your money gets a bigger size with Vizio) you will get better customer service, and Samsung has people regularly check certain cites (like the Cnet forums dedicated to samsung ) online to answer questions.
if waiting and paying a bit more isnt too much of an inconvenience you could do online sears layaway and pick it up 2 months down the road with only 20% of the value immediately paid a $5 fee and another 20% paid for it every 2 weeks (equaling the 2 months).
