Vizio changing to 720p while gaming on ps3?
I recently bought a VIZIO 32” ECO HDTV and the highest res it goes to is 1080i. I have my PS3 set up on the 1080i res and was wondering why the tv changes to 720p when i begin to play a game.
For example- The resolution on the back of the box of modern warfare 2 says it supports 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. It is on 1080i in the main menu before i insert the disc, but ten when i load it up it switches to 720p. Should it stay on 1080i. Some one please enlighten me. thanks
According to Wikipedia, the game's native resolution is 600p. Not all that many games support 1080p natively (no games prefer interlaced).
I assume 720p is closer according to the ps3, so it prefers that.
One thing to try is in the video output setup, manually choose the resolutions that your tv supports and uncheck 720p. Unfortunately, sometimes this forces it to 480p instead of 1080i, but maybe it would work if it says it supports 1080i on the case. However, the quality might not even be better, and you will need to go back and re-check the 720p option for 720p games.
