How can I get the most out of my Blue Ray player?
I recently purchased an Olevia Blue Ray player and hooked it up to my Vizio VW32L. I have a HDMI cable hooked to it but it still doesn't seem much different then a DVD. Compared to what you see on store displays the image is sharp at all. Is there another cable I need to purchase or is this as good as its going to get???
On a 32" TV, depending on how away you sit, blu-ray's difference in resolution will not be as noticeable as a larger set. This is especially true because your TV is also a budget model and will not exploit the colors that blu-ray is capable of displaying.
The only setting that really is going to make a huge difference on your set is making sure that the blu-ray player is set to output to 720p output(the native resolution of your TV). If this is set correctly, the only other thing you could really do to improve your picture is to calibrate your TV. How much value this would have on your TV I am not sure. It's likely you could improve the color accuracy somewhat but I have a feeling what your missing is the resolution increase from blu-ray and, like I said before, the only way to solve that is to sit closer, or to get a bigger, better TV.

As you can see, you have to sit at MOST 9 ft away to start to notice any difference between DVD(480p) and Blu-ray at 720p.
