What else do I need for my Sony Blu Ray DVD Player?

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here..
I just bought a Sony Blu Ray DVD player. This is my first Blu Ray product. I opened the box and it gives me the the red/white audio jacks and the single yellow video jack. From what I'm used to, thats standard definition chords. I have a HD Vizio. I was curious if I need the HD chords that I'm used to seeing (red/blue/green) in order to get the HD DVD quality?
I really hope not, I think it should simply be you buy the Blu Ray DVD player. You buy the Blu Ray DVD and obviously if you have an HDTV its beautiful..maybe it is this way? I don't know.
Someone please help! 
You need to ditch those red yellow and white cables and immediatley buy a hdmi cable! They cost a whopping $5 online, and provide the best video and audio.
