vizio 26 lcd
Have a Vizio 26" LCD TV that will not power on. What should I do?
Tv is 2 yrs old. Was working perfectly. Then one day out of the blue, it will not turn on either by
remote or power button.
A few things to try before you give up on your TV:
If it's totally dead (no sign of life at all), check the power cord to ensure it's firmly seated on both ends. Then check the power outlet with a lamp or something to make sure it's hot.
No help? Unplug the set and leave it alone for a half hour or so. Plug it back in and try it. Sometimes a cold restart will reset weird problems, just like your computer.
Still no help? There might be tiny blown fuses on the primary side of the power supply board. If dismantling the back panel doesn't scare you off (and it should for most people), open it up and look for tiny tubular fuses, usually white, and less than an inch long. You can remove them and test them with a VOM or continuity checker of some type. (And if that makes little sense to you, don't try this.)
The big problem with replacing blown fuses is that your replacements can also blow if you haven't found and fixed what caused the originals to blow.
If none of this helps, the TV needs a visit to a repair shop.
