vizio 26 inch 1080p
720p looks grainy on my Vizio?
I have a Vizio model AV26L. It is 26 inches, and the display is 1366 x 768 pixels.
When I am playing my Xbox 360/ Playstation 3, I have it set to 1080p. (I know that my TV is 720p, but when I have it set to 1080p the picture looks smooth and crisp) When I set it to my TV's natural resolution, the picture turns "Grainy Looking", and less appealing than when my TV is downscaling from 1080p. Can anyone tell me why this is?
At 1080p, your TV might not be downscaling at all. Vizio is a cheaper brand, like Insignia, and their parts probably come from all sorts of places, with specifications not always as expected.
I say this because I had an Insignia 720p television (1366x768) but couldn't stand the horrible backlight bleed and sold it to a techie friend for his PS3. He later told me the company messed up - that his panel in fact was a 1920x1080 resolution one and he's got the best picture possible now. The bleeding backlight matters little to him.
Like if you change a 1024x768 resolution laptop to 800x600, you're gonna get grainy artifacts or whatever, because "a dot and a half" or the like is being used to represent a single pixel now. Yuck.
