Review of the Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB
It's remarkable to think back to 2008 and appreciate that this was the year when we saw CRT technology effectively evaporate off of the map. LCD technology pushed it out and we'll never see it again.
Things change quickly in the electronics industry. Consider that in 2008, CRT technology practically disappeared. It was replaced with the latest and much superior LCD technology like that on the 32RV635DB that we're all pleased and at ease with at the moment.
The 32RV635DB is a 3 pin British version of the 32RV635. It is in all other respects identical and all references to the DB version will also pertain to the other.
The 32RV635DB gives us 32 inches of screen to wow us with crystal clear images. This set is best watched from about eight to ten feet. You will appreciate the cabinet design and thoughtful looks that this television has been given. Unlike many other LCD TVs, this Toshiba model will look like it belongs in your living room, not a showroom floor.You'll love this model if you are planning on spending lots of time watching your favorite sitcoms, dramas and movies.
This TV is ideal when handling standard or high definition images. However, some high end game applications may not be best suited.
All of the Toshiba RV TVs come with a planet friendly perk. You can actually reach to the back of the TV and throw a switch that will help you be a better environmentally conscious citizen. The switch in question allows you to cut back the typical 3 watt an hour power usage while not in use to under 1 watt per hour when in standby. Why would anyone not throw the switch? You'll be helping the planet by reducing your carbon footprint with the 32RV635DB.
There was a great change made for the Toshiba 32RV635DB when it was launched. The GUI (graphic user interface) has completely changed. Their menu screens are much more user friendly and the icons and fonts have really been upgraded. Unlike many other menus, you won't be squinting and trying to focus to figure out what you're doing on the menu. The colours are sharp and crisp and make the options easy to read.
You will have to keep an eye on the aspect ratio setting. The easiest thing to do is to check it when you turn the set on.
Upon technical testing, some issues did pop up. There were several overdrive errors that came up and some colour smudging. What this means to you is that if you are the typical television watcher who plans on watching TV shows and movies on a regular basis, the 32RV635DB could be the set for you. If you're looking to play 60p computer games, you may be disappointed by the graphics on this TV.
The Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB has a better than average viewing angle, but at extreme side angles there is some unavoidable shifting of colours and gamma that lead to distortion. As far as sharpness goes, this model has a 1 to 1 pixel mapping which means that the image produced is as sharp as it is possible to obtain.
This is not a highly priced television with a top specification to match. However, the 32RV635DB is one of the best HDTV's available on the market for the price.
If you're looking for a good set for viewing your nightly television shows or even as a second TV for the kids, you can't find a better TV for the price tag than the Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB.
