Sony Bravia KDL52V5500U LCD Television Review
Sony has excelled in many respects with the Sony KDL-52V5500 LCD TV with its amazingly detailed sharp picture, incredibly fluid on-screen motion and inky black levels. Sony has constantly driven the boundaries in taking full advantage of the capabilities of LCD picture quality and this television does as well.
The Sony Bravia KDL-52V5500 is great for Blu-ray and other HD sources. All Sony televisions excel on Blu-ray like no other brand and this one reaffirms this. The colours are lifelike and the picture detail is marvellous helping to enhance your viewing pleasure. The fluid like motion of on screen movement is virtually as good as the more expensive next model up from Sony, the W5500 range which possess the Motion flow 100hz processor While the picture is almost faultless, when the scene is dark, the four corners of the screen suffer from bleed through with backlight particularly on the top corners.
It is quite unfortunate that the Sony Bravia KDL-52V5500 has uneven screen illumination in view of its ability to produce such an excellent audio visual experience on standard definition and Blu ray disc. Sometimes it is possible to notice a little shimmer around the edge of the image in certain situations however you are unlikely to see it except if you search for it.
This Bravia television's audio quality is staggeringly first-rate with deep bass and crystal clear sound not typically seen on an LCD costing so little.
The Sony KDL52V55000 has deep, dark blacks combined with super brilliant whites and an outstandingly detailed picture, in particular on Hi Definition sources. Additionally, it possesses true to life colours and fabulous motion. The uneven back illumination fails the otherwise impressive traits presented here, but nonetheless it should be still seriously considered.
