What settings and cables should I have to get the most out of a Sony Bravia XBR4 TV?
I've owned this TV for a couple of months now, and it seems like the Bravia TVs at the stores look better. My TV is the 32" model, but it has the 120Hz Motionflow capability. Is there a way for me to get that feeling that I am "in the studio" watching the film...since Circuit City seems to know how to calibrate their set up that way?
First - you have to be using a source of HD video like the stores do. Many standard def channels look like crap on a HD display.
You have upgraded to an HD cable or sat service - right?
Second - use a HDMI cable , or HD rated component cables (not the $15 Radio Shack specials)
Third - if you have a BluRay player - get the BluRay version of Digital Video Essentials and go through the tutorials and test patterns.
You will need to adjust the signals from your HD cable box or Sat box - but going through the tutorials will show you what it should look like.
NOTE: newbie mistake - you cannot just take the settings from the BluRay input and apply them to the other inputs after calibrating. You have adjustments because each source is DIFFERENT.
You might even consider going to the ISF website and find a calibrationist to come to your home and do the calibration for you. It's a few hundred dollars -but if you love television, it could be worth it.
