Sony Bravia KDL-46V5100 or Sharp Aquous LC-46E77U?
I am about to purchase one of these tv's which one is most likely the best product? In total cost, the Sony will cost about $140 more than the Sharp.
I appreciate recommendations for other brands, however I have checked and they are out of my price range, so please comment only on the 2 Models I've listed because I will def be getting only 1 of those 2; the Sony or the Sharp. Thanks 
I would recommend you look at a Panasonic or Sumsang tv's. Both Panasonic and sumsang have better quality and reliability than Sony and Sharp. This is from answering all the question consumers have just like you. Sony used to be a good brand, but looks like the went for quantity vs quality in production. A 46" 1080P Plasma at Costco is now under $1,000 with a one year extended warranty on your factory warranty along with a 90 day return policy for a $45 membership fee for one year. Go to a retail store and demo the tv's, spend at less 15 minutes on each tv and take notes on the pro's and con's for each one.
Your own eyes is the best judge. I do won a 50" Plasma from Panasonic and a 58" Plasma 1080P from Sumsang for over a year now and have not had one trouble at all. Hope this will help you guide in the right direction.
