What happen to my Home Theater system?
Here's my situation.
I connected my PS3 and Cable box and Xbox 360 to Home Theater system (Samsung HT-AS730ST as 7.1) with HDMIs and Home theater system to my TV (Sony 52 Bravia XBR 2).
Whenever I play game with PS3 there is sound delay and somethimes picture delay in same time (Which means pictures freezes and move again after few second) I know it's not HDMI cable problem for sure. I believe it's my home theater system or PS3. So I tried connect optical cable for sound PS3 to home theater system and Connected HDMI cable for picture PS3 to TV. Looks like all the delay is gone but now I can't have 7.1 (7 speakers working but sound like it just working as 2.1)
What's wrong with my systems? Is it Home theater system or PS3?
First off, there are very few software in the market today that has the 7.1 surround sound. Out of my 200 Blu Ray disc only 3 are in 7.1. For video I have no idea. If you are using the optical cable you are not going to get 7.1 surround sound, only HDMI cable is capable of the 7.1 surround sound. Home Theater in a box are not very flexible in adding other items to them except one optical input for audio. Delay in video and audio are at times a problem form the tv, Check the response time of your tv, if it is in the 4ms then it is fine. Some cheap brand HDMI cable can also play on the delay of the signal to your tv or receiver. Connecting the PS3 directly to the tv is the best choice and connecting an optical cable to the home theater in a box. Hope this will help you out.
