Un55B7000 Samsung - The 7000 Beat My 650 From My Friend's Kuro Plasma
I just wanted to let everyone know that over Olympic weekend, we had a guest who is considered the national world of HDTV (each of you know someone like this .... quote facts and figures of all the days ...), and has a Pioneer KURO Plasma. According to him, is the gold standard HDTV big.
Well - he was there, sitting in our living room is completely silent while watching the Olympics on our HDTV 7000 series. After a few minutes, spoke and said my wife and I that the photo was good or better than his' sacred 'KURO'! (You knew that was a sort of hissing the words ...)
He also noted that our UN55B7000 Samsung looked better during the day (this was Saturday afternoon in our living room with large windows on one side). Out of respect, I did not bring the heat much larger and the power consumption of its KURO, to spare his feelings .....
Same guy called me last weekend to ask for more, and that he was trying to buy one! Not that I was evil or anything ........
I, of course, just had to post this great compliment from the owner KURO you all! No doubt this is the best investment we've ever done TV.
Oh, our setup rocks the house: Comcast HD Box receiver Yamaha RXV765 with 5-channel surround sound speakers ORB mod2 and their 10 "UberSub (combo killer-theater sound better than great, and Samsung BluRay player. We put TV on the wall with wires concealed on a low boy where to store the equipment and the collection of DVDs. KURO? No - Kudo - for Samsung for a job very well done.
Many people still wonder about the latest LED / LCD vs Plasma. I was one of them. After months of searching, I took the 58 "plasma B650. It 'always difficult for an audition in a store, but we felt it beat the big LCD. Well - read on.
If it was 3 weeks, waiting for 'break', he made (the phosphors are of age and become uniform - took about 50 hours of vision to achieve.) Has been able over time to obtain a large photo (in dynamically), but it never seemed quite so great as our Samsung 40 "upstairs B630.
Then I measured the energy consumption after noticing the heat coming from the screen. Uh - 550W average, with peaks of up to 700W in certain scenes of movies brght! My wife and I play the set a bit ', and a quick calculation told us the warmth and the cost was too much a price to pay for something that hung on the wall for years to come. Back to the stores for additional hearings.
After another couple of weeks of looking we bought the UN55B7000 Samsung.
Almost the same size - but 1 / 4 power, after reading about it. Out of the box, this set looked good or better than plasma. The black levels as good - the color balance even better - My test BluRay which has a number of hard to get the right gray / black scenes is Terminator Salvation. Look better to UN55B7000 Samsung. I use this, and UP, which really tests the color saturation.
And this is the default movie mode, which opens when I use my Samsung BluRay player.
By fine-tuning in standard mode, I got it looking even better. No heat. Because of the long-term costs down the plasma.
SUMMARY - I was able to have both in my house and do my own tweaking and comparison, and all things considered - The UN55B7000 Samsung beat UN58B650 Samsung. I hope this provides some inputs for others who are trying to decide. Consider all factors - electricity and heat, and the image.
