High Def Questions for my new tv?
Okay, I just bought a new 46" samsung lcd.
It's a 750 series, 1080p, 240hz.
My question is,
why do I still get a wide screen picture.... they type of picture that has the two solid black bars on the top and bottom of the screen... Shouldn't the whole screen be filled with picture with no bars? whats the point of having a larger hi def tv, if your still going to the black bars?
A couple of ideas depending on what you are seeing:
The black bars all around the picture are a problem with the video before it gets to your TV. What's happening is, whatever you are watching was converted to SD (Standard Definition), that's what put the black bars on the sides, and then back to HD; that's what put the black bars on the top and bottom. So, where ever you are getting your video from is being converted too many times. If this is cable, make sure you have a HD cable box and HD cable service. The box should be connected to the TV with either an HDMI cable or component cables.
Also, some movies are not the same dimensions as a HD screen so you will get the black bars on the top and bottom only. So, if you are watching a movie, that may be the issue. That's just the way that works, you really can't do much about that except adjust the zoom on your TV if the bars bother you.
