samsung lcd tv 37 120hz
lcd to laptop via hdmi?
I have a 37" lg60 120hz and a gateway m1625 laptop windows vista my laptop only has a hdmi outport but my tv has rgb pc which looks like vga input and also 4 hdmi ports when I connect via HDMI tv constantly flickers it works for a few seconds then it goes black and comes back , I was thinking of buying a cable that has a vga and a hdmi but i read there is conflict since vga is analog and hdmi is digital. Ive also tried my laptop on another samsung 32" 60hz via hdmi and it works perfectly what can i do ?
the highest i can go on laptop is 60hz and i tried lowering on my tv but i dont see an option for that. So what would be the whole point of my tv having a (rgb) pc output if the newer laptops are coming out with hdmi and not vga
The flicker you describe sounds an awful lot like a refresh rate issue.
Since you got one of those latest-and-greatest 120Hz LCD TVs (designed to eliminate judder when watching movies filmed at 24 frames per second), most likely you also need to set your laptop's display properties to accomodate the higher frequency. See if you can adjust the display modes to do the TV's native resolution + 120Hz refresh rate.
