Panasonic TC-P58S1 - Perfect Entry-level Entertainer!
The Panasonic VIERA S1 Plasma Series presents a broad array of HDTVs with the new NEO PDP design. Although the S1 series and the G10 series share the same screen technology, the Panasonic TC-P58S1 full HDTV lacks the Viera Cast feature set, a step down from the G10 Series.
Not really the latest in ergonomic technology, the Panasonic TC-P58S1 full HDTV has a slim strip of silver that gently embosses the curves and is completely covered in black glossy finish. However, this conservative model lacks in the swivel capability.
The Panasonic TC-P58S1 Flat-panel TV delivers excellent picture quality with deep blacks and realistic color reproduction. Equipped with the new 600Hz Subfield Drive, this Panasonic VIERA promises better motion resolution. The Panasonic VIERA 1080p Plasma TV replicates a standard definition source quite well. However, when compared with standard Samsung televisions, the details weren’t as sharp as expected.
The Panasonic TC - P58S1 Plasma TV has basic picture adjustment when compared to its step-up models. Besides these basic picture settings, you can also get the advantage of the three color temperature presets.
On the connectivity front, the Panasonic VIERA 1080p Plasma TV is adequate as an entry-level HDTV. It has three HDMI inputs, two component-video inputs, an AV input with composite and S-Video and an RF input for cable or antenna. All these connectivity options are present on the back panel.
On the whole, the Panasonic TC-P58S1 Flat-panel TV is good enough as an entry-level HDTV. If you are not expecting the latest in technology, the TC-P58S1 is a worthy buy.
