LG Plasma TV 1080p
LG is taking a different approach in the Plasma market as others are backing off of the Plasma screens. The Korean manufacturer is well renowned for producing high quality, attractive televisions at affordable prices, a reputation they have earned for their plasma televisions as well as their LCD models. An excellent example of the former is the LG 42PJ350, a 42 inch plasma model that retails for under £450 - an incredibly low price for the quality on offer.
There are a few reasons why LG has managed to keep the price of the 42PJ350 so low. The decision to feature a display resolution of 720p instead of 1080p is one of them. This may put off people who are looking for the best HD picture available, but they're likely to have a higher budget anyway. The 42PJ350 is unashamedly a budget television, and LG have taken something of a calculated risk with the resolution. Besides, the comparative lack of HD detail is largely offset by the 600Hz processing power. One of the major drawbacks of LCD technology is motion blurring, something that well-made plasma televisions do not suffer from, and the 42PJ350 is no exception. Whether you are watching a fast-paced movie, or playing the latest nerve-jangling videogame, the 42PJ350 will not let you down when the picture begins to pan at speed.
Limited connectivity has also kept the cost of the TV down. However, although the 42PJ350 sports fewer sockets and ports than most high-end models, it still has the same connectivity as most Plasma Televisions in this price range, with a USB port thrown in for good measure. The two HDMI ports, two SCART sockets and VGA connection are to be expected, but not the USB port. USB is often absent from budget range televisions, particularly plasma models, so its inclusion here is a pleasant surprise.
With such a low price tag you'd be forgiven for thinking that LG have held back on the sound quality - however you'd be wrong. Most budget televisions feature 5 watt sound systems, but the 42PJ350 boasts two 10 watt speakers with a lot of power behind them.
Ultimately, it seems that by sacrificing 1080p resolution, LG have been able to pull the rabbit out of the hat in all other areas of the 42PJ350. Get Product reviews and great prices here.
