What is the best way to connect two TV antennas together?
At my house, there are 2 major markets that send over the air TV signals. I currently have an antenna facing one market and am picking up 12 stations. I found another full size antenna and want to hook this one up facing the other city. Can you hook the two antennas together so that I could get both markets on my HDTV at the same time w/o a rotor?
Was wondering if I used a 2-way splitter backwards if it would "merge" the 2 antenna signals together?? Or... say if I get channels 2-1, 2-2, 2-03 on one antenna and static on the other, if it would cancel the signals out? I have ample supply of coax cable, but hate to have to run a separate line and have to switch back and forth on the 2 different antennas. I do know how to strip the coax wire back and make a two wire lead. Would it be better to merge the antennas together that way and then use a 300 ohm to 75 ohm transformer to one coax line??
Combining signals from two antennas is actually a lot more complicated than you might imagine. I think the easiest way to handle it just might be an AB switch. The two antennas are connected to the input ports and then depending what station you want to watch, you move the switch.

This way you never have any issues with the signal on one antenna interfering with the other.
