hdtv 42 1080p
Westinghouse, Dynex, Insignia, or Vizio HDTV? All are 1080p 42". Also considering Panasonic but its $300 more?
The Westinghouse is about $750, the Dynex is about $800, and the Insignia is about $850 all at Best Buy. The Vizio is about $850 at Walmart. The panasonic is about $1100 online from Best Buy but it is plasma. All are 1080p but the panasonic is plasma. I don't really want to spend another $300 because I am on a budget but I also want a quality product. Will I see much difference in the picture?
i disagree with the last post, to a point. see, walmart doesn't make the TVs, they simply sell them. Walmart actually does have most of the top brands, but they don't have the variety and they usually only carry one model of each brand.
that being said, i would highly discourage you from buying any of those models that you mentioned (well, except the panasonic). some of them have inferior video quality (ie the dynex) and the ones that have decent pictures, have horrible support and maintence records (read up some forums on vizio and how often their TVs break in the first year or two...it's eye opening). the westinghouse was the only one rated ok in conumer reports and their after the sale service isn't great either.
do yourself a favor and buy a name brand. if you're worried about the money, see if you can qualify for the best buy or the circuit city card. this way, you can get 3 years no interest on a name brand television. just make sure that you pay it off in those 3 years or you get socked with all the back interest. if you can't do that...save up a bit more and get a better model. it's always better to pay more for quality than to get a bargain brand TV and have it break in a year, and then have to buy another one.
