Make Sure You Don’T Miss A Pass During The Six Nations
The 2010 Six Nations rugby competition is now well under way and all the action is being shown once again on the BBC.
It was announced earlier this year that for the very first time, the two England matches against Wales and Ireland would be filmed in 3D and screened at 40 Odeon and Cineworld cinemas across the country. Thousands of people flocked to see the first ground breaking screenings as polarized 3D cameras were brought to Twickenham in preparation for the match on February 6.
It will be a while before people will be able to enjoy 3D rugby in the comfort of their own homes, although advances in technology have meant it is possible to enjoy a high-definition broadcasting in your own house. So why not make the most of this year’s Six Nations and treat yourself to a flashy new high-definition television.
There is a huge range of televisions to choose from including LED, LCD and plasma, made by companies such as Samsung, Philips, Panasonic and LG. One of the hardest decisions you’ll have to make is how big a TV you can get away with. A 42 inch plasma television will provide you with stunning pictures that will take your breath away, but no doubt you’ll be wrestling with the thought of buying a monster 50 inch.
HD channels are available through satellite and cable providers including Sky, Virgin and Freesat. People living in certain parts of the UK can also now also access HD channels through Freeview with a new HD Freeview Box which went on sale in the middle of February. The HD Freeview service is currently being rolled out across the UK and 50 per cent of homes are expected to have access by June.
Admittedly the thrills and spills of the Six Nations tournament will be over before too long, but with the increasing number of television programs and sporting events that are being broadcast in high definition, you certainly won’t be short of things to watch on your new purchase.
The quality of nature programs such as Planet Earth broadcast in HD will make you gasp as you’re drawn into the natural world, and you’re sure to be glued to the set when it is time for the next episode of Heroes.
