32inch hdtv 1080p

Should I buy a Samsung 32inch 1080P TV or a 37inch 720P TV? There both the same price?
Samsung LN37A450 37" LCD HDTV OR Samsung LN32A550 32" LCD HDTV. Thanks for the help
Im not sure if 1080P for a 32inch is worth it. But if 1080P is necessary for a 37inch? My viewing distance is around 9 feet. Thanks
The basic formula to determine the best screen size for your needs is inches of your viewing distance divided in half. So 108 inches (9ft) divided by 2 equals 54 inches. So if you’ve limited yourself to these two TVs based of your viewing distance you should buy the 37inch 720P TV. However don’t get hung up on resolution. The Imaging Science Foundation a group that consults for home-theater manufacturers and trains professional video calibrators that is highly respected has maintain the top three things to look for in a HDTV are contrast ratio (number one by far), color saturation, and color accuracy. The fact of the matter is 1080p is mostly hyped and not practical for a large portion of people looking to purchase a HDTV. On paper, yes 1080p produces a sharper image however this sharpness is almost unnoticeable for even the most eagle-eyed experts on screen smaller then 55 inches. Even with the larger 55 + inch screens they often need a similar sized 720p HDTV playing the same HD content to notice the difference and even then the difference is small. The fact of the matter is on paper and in the lab 1080p produces the best picture however in the real world few consumers will be able to see the difference. To add on to that about 80% of ALL HD content available is either 720p or 1080i and while 1080i produces a 1080 image the interlace signal is prone to image blurring and ghosting during high action scenes. So most people (especially people into gaming and watching sports) avoid 1080i and chose 720p, which is far less prone to this blurring and ghosting. Plus 720p displays non HD content better then 1080p so its still practical to watch normal cable or dvds while 1080p displays tend to slightly distort non HD content. Unless you plan on buying a 55+-inch screen HDTV to be uses exclusively for Blue Ray movies, HDTV and PS3/X-Box 360 gaming I’d stick with a large top of the line 720p HDTV versus a middle of the line medium sized 1080p HDTV. The top of the line 720p will tend to have slightly better contrast ratio and color then a middle of the line 1080p.
